Let's just yell it out together shall we?Friday, August 16, 2002
Knowing is not enough;
In between all the car-buying excitement, going to work, dealing with the heat and humidity -- I've perservered with my quilt and indeed the binding is half-a-long-side away from being done. then a quick sewing down of the sleeve (and why didn't I put the bottom sleeve on it as I normally do???) and it's done! I hope to get it there today so we can take slides and official digital images and send off an entry form for it. Have to figure out how and where to sign it too.
So tomorrow starts the end of the process of buying the new car. I get to do the banking part of it. It's rather a daunting thing, but then, this will only be what, car number four for me. Yellow chevette, blue volkswagon, plum saturn..... all long-driven by me.Wednesday, August 14, 2002
When one door of happiness closes, another opens; but often we look so long at the closed door that we do not see the one which has opened for us. -- Helen Keller
Guess what I did last night?Sunday, August 11, 2002
The car (95 saturn with 156K miles) is sputtering, the heat is intense, I'm boiling potatoes for the pleasure of having potato salad and I have 9 yards of bias binding to iron and prepare. And the sleeve to make for the same quilt. No wonder I am procrastinating in the cool of the downstairs!
The Perseid meteor shower will be viewable over the next few nights. I liked the description of how to look at this:The best time to look for meteors is when Perseus is highest in the sky--between 2 a.m. and dawn. On August 12th, set your alarm for 2 o'clock in the morning. Go outside; lie down on a sleeping bag or a reclining lawn chair with your toes pointed northeast; and gaze upward. Soon you'll see shooting stars racing along the Milky Way.If a large number of people did this, surely it would improve the world.
