Dear Jane Classes at NYQ!
For quilters of all ability levels & experience

Teacher Biography: Brenda Papadakis
A teacher of mathematics by training and vocation, Brenda especially enjoys drafting and designing patterns. Brenda has been making quilts since the early 1970's and teaching quilting since 1991. She specializes in Amish and Japanese quilt making and designs, as well as Baltimore Applique. Her quilt teaching has taken her as far as Japan.

Her current book, Dear Jane, The Two Hundred Twenty-five Patterns from the 1863 Jane A. Stickle Quilt (Quilt House Publishing, 1996), has resulted from a fascination for miniature patterns in general and the Jane A. Stickle quilt in particular and from an interest in women's history.

  2001 NYQ! Block Challenge

Our Block Challenge asks that you make a block in the manner of Jane Stickle. This might be a 4 1/2" block or a larger block, reminiscent of the Civil War era in block pattern or fabrics.

This is open to all quilters and is an opportunity to try out a new technique or style for you. Maybe you've already made a Dear Jane block or two or are about to start. We especially encourage young students and quilters to make a block for this challenge.
