Last night I pondered how to start the first quilt. I finally came up with a really sketchy plan, but decided to "just do it!" :-) If you'll click on the first link under Quilts to the left, you'll see the first steps taken today. These four inch blocks are for a border - the outer edge of the quilt.

Can you see the resemblance between these blocks and the tree/shadow pictures I took about a week ago?

Here's what I did today

I haven't been ignoring you, honest! I spent a few days getting together a portfolio for a job interview involving web page design.

Now I'm looking at a pile of fabric sitting on my ironing board that is reflective of some of the wintery photos I took.

Today there was a little piece I'd sent to the Times Union about this project. So if you're here after reading about this in the TU - welcome!

Also, my digital camera has taken a brief sabbatical, going off to New Jersey to see what its problem is. One day I stopped at routes 151 and 150 to take a photo and it just plain wouldn't work. ooops. Several people stopped to offer me assistance or a cell phone to call AAA, for which I'm appreciative. I'm also appreciative of having gotten an extended warranty on the camera!
